Job Description ACCIONA is seeking an experienced Electrical Design Manager to lead the design of high-voltage transmission lines and power systems for some of Australia’s most significant renewable energy and energy transition projects. This role offers the opportunity to work on nationally critical developments, integrating wind and solar farms, battery storage, and grid infrastructure into the transmission network. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage a design team to develop high-quality, compliant electrical designs for power transmission and distribution projects. Oversee all aspects of HV transmission line design , substation integration, and renewable energy grid connections . Collaborate with project stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory bodies, ensuring efficient and cost-effective project delivery. Develop and implement technical strategies for transmission line projects , ensuring alignment with Australian standards and grid connection requirements. Provide technical expertise, cost estimates, and design solutions during project tendering and execution. Conduct design reviews and risk assessments to maintain the highest safety and performance standards. Mentor and develop junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence. Stay at the forefront of emerging trends in power system design, HVDC/AC transmission, and renewable energy integration. Required Skills and Competencies Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field (master’s degree is a plus). 8+ years of experience in electrical design for transmission, distribution, or large-scale power projects, with at least 3 years in a leadership role . Proven expertise in high-voltage transmission line and substation design (132kV–500kV). Strong understanding of grid connection processes, protection schemes, and power system stability analysis . Familiarity with Australian electrical standards, National Electricity Rules (NER), and regulatory requirements for transmission projects. Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) or eligibility for chartered status is highly desirable. Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills . Why Join ACCIONA?
