Role Overview UMENCO is currently recruiting a Design Room Manager | Offshore Production Manager for a contemporary womenswear brand, based in Sydney. The Design Room Manager plays a pivotal role in overseeing the entire product design and development process, collaborating closely with the Creative Director to create collection briefs and design concepts. This position leads all stages of design, from trend research to final execution. The Design Room Manager will work alongside the Creative Director, Operations Manager and Marketing Coordinator to develop and manage the critical path for creative development, ensuring all key deadlines are met. The successful talent will be responsible for managing samples from initial concept to the approved pre-production stage, researching and sourcing fabrics and trims that align with both design specifications and budget constraints, while ensuring timely delivery and quality control. In addition to design and sample management, the Design Room Manager will oversees the sample cutting process, assigning tasks to pattern cutters and ensuring precision. They also coordinate with seamstresses to ensure that garment construction meets the designer’s vision and provide feedback on fit and quality. The Design Room Manager will be responsible for producing accurate and comprehensive Bills of Materials (BOM’s) at various stages and for producing technical drawings, line sheets and lookbooks for all collections. Staff training on new styles is also a key responsibility, both at the head office and across retail locations, ensuring everyone is aligned with the brands vision and new product offerings. For offshore production, The Design Room Manager will build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiating competitive pricing while maintaining high-quality standards. The successful talent will manage critical paths and production schedules to ensure the timely completion of offshore production and monitor inventory levels to optimise resource utilisation. Additionally, they will oversee fabric and material management for offshore production and coordinate the movement of goods between offshore factories and the domestic market.Exceptional organisational and communication skills are essential for this role.
