Job Description

Our Financial Services client is looking for a DevOps, Cloud & Kafka Specialist for a 6-12 month contract. This is a Hybrid role for the right candidate and the likely start date is mid to late January 2025. Please note to apply, applicants must have the following: The requisite skill and experience defined below, Hold at least Australian Permanent Residency status, and At least 4+ years relevant local working experience. Role Background: The successful candidate will be working as part of the Messaging and Integration team, implementing and supporting the integration infrastructure. The candidate will be performing installations, configuration, and modifications of the Integration Infrastructure, address software currency and vulnerability management, and play a key role in various projects to help identify and implement the best possible Integration solution. The client's infrastructure spans: AWS and GCP Cloud tenancies, RedHat Linux, Windows Server, and Legacy technologies IBM MQ and WebSphere Application Server as they transition to their strategic platforms. Day-to-day activities will see the successful candidate assisting the team supporting and developing their Integration platforms, which include: AWS: Amazon Web Services EKS: AWS Elastic Kubernetes Service Kafka: Confluent Cloud Kafka GitLab: Git repositories and GitLab DevOps platform. Key Technical competencies & experience: At least 7 years experience in an IT technical role. Good knowledge of using cloud tenancies, such as AWS & GCP. Experience in configuring and customizing GitLab DevOps pipelines using Terraform or similar technology to configure and maintain Cloud infrastructure. Good knowledge of the Windows and Linux Operating systems. Using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and deploying solutions to Cloud environments. Kubernetes, including Helm Charts, and Kafka experience. An excellent knowledge of technologies including Web Servers, Application Servers, Firewalls, and LDAP Directory Servers. Understanding of Internet communication protocols such as HTTP, SSL, and TCP/IP and certificate management. Knowledge and hands-on experience in IBM's WebSphere Application Server and MQ is highly desirable, but not essential. Key Non-technical capabilities: Highly motivated with a strong proactive attitude. Ability to design complex integration solutions. Exposure to production support and change management. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills. Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with other teams. Good understanding of project management and Agile principles.
