Engineering - Software (Information & Communication Technology) Rapidly growing 130+ person Australian owned, multiple roles Attractive salary package, flexible working hours About the Role The DevSecOps Engineer will play a pivotal role in integrating security into the software development and deployment pipeline for the enterprise. This position involves working at the intersection of development, operations, and security to ensure that all software products are secure, reliable, and compliant with client requirements. As a key member of a cross-functional team, the DevSecOps Engineer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining automated security controls and monitoring solutions. The role will work under general direction and closely with software engineers, security specialists, and operational teams to embed security best practices into the entire development lifecycle—from coding and integration to deployment and monitoring. The role will leverage your expertise in cloud environments, containerisation, infrastructure as code (IaC), and security automation to mitigate risks and enhance operational resilience. To be considered for this role, you must be an Australian citizen. Essential Knowledge and Skills: Proficiency in Linux/Unix systems, networking concepts, and security principles. Competent scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and Infrastructure as Code tools like Ansible and Helm. Experience working with container technologies (e.g. Docker and Kubernetes), artifact repositories (e.g. JFrog Artifactory) and container security best practices. Familiarity with software development security tooling (e.g. SonarQube, Grype, JFrog Xray). Knowledge of the ASD Essential 8 and ISM and how to apply these. Proficiency in building and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins and GitLab CI. A strategic mindset for identifying and managing security risks across the SDLC, with an ability to develop risk mitigation strategies that align with enterprise objectives. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues. Ability to lead and mentor teams of engineers, ensuring the adoption of security best practices and DevSecOps principles. Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with emerging security threats, technologies, and industry best practices. Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Knowledge of monitoring and observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional (AWS or Azure) Desirable Knowledge and Skills: Exposure to other Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Terraform, AWS CloudFormation) Knowledge of threat detection tooling (e.g. Zap, Falco) Hands-on experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their security services. Experience with service mesh technologies (e.g. Istio). Knowledge of serverless computing and event-driven architectures. Experience with database administration (e.g. PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, MongoDB) To be considered, candidates will have: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Australian Citizenship, with the ability to obtain and retain an NV2 clearance.
