To view the Position Description please click the hyperlink (or 'Apply' if on Seek, LinkedIn or Indeed) Key Responsibilities and Functions Develop and implement infrastructure design standards, as well as transport planning and traffic management policies and practices, to be used throughout the Shire. Maintain standards in line with current practice, technology development, environmental considerations and community expectations. Ensure private development within the municipality meets the required design and other standards in association with the Council's Town Planning Department. Facilitate planning referral process where required as it relates to Infrastructure Design and Traffic Management requirements. Coordinate appropriate responses to subdivision proposals and the assessment of Infrastructure designs for the purpose of subdivision. Complete regular site visits and ensure the quality of work completed by developers meets the standards established in the planning permit and approved construction drawings. Determine legal points of discharge for developments according to QA documentation, ensuring that referral timelines are met and including an inspection of each point as per CEO Directive. Undertake crossing inspections by checking the construction on site and levels if appropriate as required. Develop ongoing management plans for assets when requested. Participate in Council advisory and consultative committees as requested. Maintain strict confidentiality in any matter which may affect Council's ability to negotiate effectively with contractors or developers. Assist in minimising Council's risks and participate as required in Council's Risk Management Strategy. Other duties as may be directed from time to time. Although an employee may be appointed to a particular position, Council may ask for duties to be carried out in other areas that are within their range of skills, competence and training. Desired Skills and Experience Key Selection Criteria Relevant tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering with eligibility to be assessed for registration in accordance with the Professional Engineers Act 2019. Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills. Extensive experience in the design and implementation of civil engineering works. High quality oral and written communication skills. Previous experience in assessing land development proposals. Essential qualifications and experience Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering with an ability to be assessed for Registration in accordance with the Professional Engineers Act 2019. Experience in the design of civil infrastructures, predominantly roads and storm water drainage. Current Driver's Licence. National Police Check. Desirable qualifications and experience Experience in civil construction supervision. Previous experience in Local Government in a similar role. #J-18808-Ljbffr
