Development & Origination Manager (Energy Sector) Role Focus: Lead energy origination, strategy, and deal execution to drive long-term commercial growth and market expansion. Location: Melbourne or Sydney Salary: $230,000 - $250,000 base salary (excluding bonus and company benefits) Role Snapshot: Develop and implement strategic energy origination initiatives, securing long-term agreements to support business growth. Identify emerging market trends and commercial opportunities to shape energy procurement and investment strategies. Lead complex negotiations for energy supply contracts, PPAs, and structured market transactions. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to align origination efforts with broader business objectives and sustainability goals. The Role The Development & Origination Manager is responsible for leading the strategic direction of energy origination, identifying market opportunities, and executing long-term energy supply agreements. This role requires a deep understanding of commercial structuring, regulatory frameworks, and risk management to enhance market positioning and revenue growth. The successful candidate will drive business expansion by leveraging strategic insights, building high-value partnerships, and ensuring the company's energy portfolio remains competitive in an evolving market. Key Responsibilities: Develop and execute long-term energy origination strategies to support business growth and market leadership. Identify and assess emerging opportunities in energy markets, including regulatory shifts, investment trends, and evolving customer needs. Lead the structuring and negotiation of PPAs and energy supply agreements , ensuring optimal commercial outcomes. Formulate risk-adjusted contracting strategies to balance revenue certainty with market flexibility. Engage with corporate and industrial energy users to structure tailored energy solutions that align with business needs. Collaborate with senior leadership and strategy teams to align origination activities with corporate objectives. Oversee the evaluation of potential energy projects , providing strategic input on commercial viability and risk management. Monitor policy developments and regulatory changes , ensuring compliance and identifying strategic market advantages. Develop financial models and commercial frameworks to assess the long-term value and impact of energy transactions. Negotiate structured energy transactions that support sustainability and decarbonisation objectives. Drive innovation in contracting models by integrating new market mechanisms, financial instruments, and customer-driven solutions. Build and maintain strong relationships with market participants, regulators, and industry stakeholders. Lead internal governance processes to ensure transactions align with risk management and investment criteria. Support portfolio optimisation initiatives , ensuring the business remains agile in a changing market landscape. Provide strategic insights and recommendations to senior leadership on market trends, competitive positioning, and investment opportunities. Skills and Experience: Extensive experience in energy origination, strategy development, and commercial negotiations. Deep knowledge of Australian energy markets, regulatory frameworks, and market dynamics. Proven expertise in structuring and executing PPAs, energy supply contracts, and structured transactions. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market trends and develop actionable strategies. Demonstrated ability to engage with corporate and industrial energy users to structure tailored agreements. Excellent stakeholder management skills, with experience working with senior leadership and external partners. Strong financial and risk management capabilities, with experience in contract structuring and investment evaluation.
