About our team Cyber & Infrastructure Security | Critical Infra Partnership & Policy The Cyber and Infrastructure Security Group (CISG) is Australia's cyber and infrastructure security policy and regulatory function. We deliver cyber, critical infrastructure, technology and government protective security policies and programs. Our mission is to ensure the security, continuity and resilience of Australia's critical infrastructure. We drive an all-hazards critical infrastructure regime in partnership with governments, industry and the broader community. Our policies are world-leading and make a tangible difference. We assist government, critical asset owners, and the wider Australian community by providing robust security frameworks to enable assets to be secured from all-hazards across eleven critical sectors of the Australian economy. The Critical Infrastructure Partnerships and Policy Division, within CISG, provides policy advice to the Australian Government on critical infrastructure and transport security matters and manages the policy for, and the implementation of, the legislative frameworks in place under the Aviation Transport Security Act 2004, the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003, and the Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018. Our ideal candidate Have experience in managing teams and complex stakeholder networks Highly effective written and verbal communication skills Be able to manage complex workloads and diverse stakeholders with a high level of autonomy and accountability Advanced stakeholder engagement skills to achieve administrative, policy, and operational outcomes that align with Australian Government and Departmental objectives Ability to quickly learn and administer the Aviation Transport Security Act 2004, Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003, Security of Critical Infrastructure Act 2018, AusCheck Act 2007, Cyber Security Act 2024, and subordinate legislation. Duties and responsibilities The duties and responsibilities will be dependent on the division, branch, and section that successful applicants are placed into, but broadly the duties and responsibilities of an EL2 Director are: Lead and manage teams who deliver strategic, operational, and administrative policy advice to the Australian Government and industry partners Provide specialist and expert advice to the Australian Government and industry participants on Australia's cyber and critical infrastructure security frameworks Lead complex policy and program projects to develop legislative, regulatory, policy, and administrative reforms to Australia's cyber and critical infrastructure security frameworks Lead the engagement with industry participants to ensure legislative changes are designed and implemented correctly, whilst building strong relationships that can be called upon when required Represent the Department at workshops, meetings and stakeholder forums with key government and industry partners Coach, mentor, and upskill staff in skills and capabilities expected of public servants. Additional information We are offering multiple roles (EL2) within the Critical Infrastructure Partnerships and Policy Division to drive an all-hazards critical infrastructure regime. Critical Infrastructure Partnerships and Policy Division Directors are highly motivated and experienced leaders who are responsible for the delivery of complex policy, operational and program management activities to ensure the security, continuity and resilience of Australia's critical infrastructure. As a Director of the Critical Infrastructure Partnerships and Policy Division, you will: Engage in a diverse range of complex and sensitive issues that require detailed planning, stakeholder engagement, negotiation and persuasion/influence Influence strategic business and policy design and analysis, committing to the achievement of best practice regulation and law making Identify emerging issues affecting business outcomes as well as critical resource and skill gaps, and resolve these strategically Make important and informed decisions promptly and transparently, often in stressful or complex situations where there are competing demands and deadlines Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of branch, divisional and group work priorities and understanding of the legislation, policies and procedures that govern and guide their operations Capitalize on synergies and opportunities for cost-saving initiatives. Directors within the Critical Infrastructure Partnerships and Policy Division lead and influence their staff to deliver specified objectives and outcomes whilst simultaneously committing to building capacity within their teams. They use their management experience to employ effective control measures that mitigate risks and resolve issues with minimum disruption to workflow. They engage widely across the Department and with relevant internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues and enable the collaborative achievement of these results.
