Building on Professor Michael Farrell’s platform of success, after 14 years in the role, we are embarking on a global search for the next Director of the National Drug & Alcohol Research Centre (NDARC). The next Director will lead and implement the strategic direction and long-term vision of NDARC to maintain and enhance its national and global standing, consistent with the priorities, academic environment, goals and thematic approach of the Faculty’s and the new UNSW 2035 “Progress for All ” strategy. Reporting to the Dean, this position is a key leadership role at UNSW within the Faculty of Medicine & Health. In addition to the management of the Centre, the Director will build and sustain excellent relationships with local and international stakeholders including community, government, local health districts, and industry to ensure the interests of the Centre are effectively promoted and supported, increase and maximise fundraising and develop initiatives with external partners and donors to the Centre. A fluent communicator with global outlook and expertise, the next Director will be an aspirational and collegial leader of high intellectual standing and entrepreneurial spirit, with the experience needed to lead in complex environments.
