Job Description

The Director of the Early Learning Centre (ELC) will be a passionate, kind, and thoughtful leader and educator, dedicated to the care and education of young people. The Director will be responsible for all aspects of the ELC including the development and implementation of the Centre’s curriculum based on the Early Years Learning Framework, Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and National Quality Standards. With a focus on the wellbeing of staff, and on the day-to-day operations and management, the Director oversees the care and safety of children across all age groups so that they will thrive as independent young people who are respectful and responsible. The Early Learning Centre is a 68 place, 3 room centre which allows us to be a close-knit community. Details Permanent, full-time, 38 hours per week based on the operational requirements of the service, and the roster Commencing February 2025 Closing Date for applications - close of business Wednesday 12 February 2025. Duties include but are not limited to: Reporting to the Dean of Junior College, oversee the daily operation of the centre, including staffing, budget management, and communication with parents and stakeholders Lead and support the professional development of the Educators and Teachers, including coaching, mentoring, and performance management Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support the physical, social, emotional, and cognitive development of each child Ensure the safety and well-being of all stakeholders at the Centre at all times, following all policies and procedures Maintain compliance with all relevant regulations, legislation, and College policies and procedures. Teamwork and Communication Demonstrate a willingness to work positively within a team as well as having the ability to work independently. Demonstrate and practice effective written, verbal and non-verbal communication. Excellent personal organisation, planning and time management skills including the ability to prioritise tasks to meet deadlines. Genuine commitment to the ideals of independent schools, including the preparedness to attend extracurricular activities, as appropriate to the role. Commitment to work within and support the Christian ethos, mission, and values of the College. Demonstrate passion, energy, enthusiasm and commitment towards the role and the College. Ability to work harmoniously to achieve an organisation-wide vision, as set by the College leadership and Board. Bachelor of Early Childhood Education or equivalent education/training and relevant experience A minimum of three – five years’ related experience Comprehensive knowledge of Early Years Learning Framework and Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines and National Quality Standard and Regulations. Knowledge of assessment and rating processes, as it relates to childcare Sound knowledge of business practices, including the ability to implement and manage budgets and adhere to timelines Ability to lead, train and mentor a team of qualified and committed early childhood professionals. Maintain a degree of flexibility in working hours from time to time as required for the position. General knowledge of nutrition, Staying Healthy in Childcare (latest edition) and First Aid. Experience in Xplor (or other Child Care software programs).
