Director of Faculty Development – Cape Breton Medical Campus Location: CBU Competition Number: 97 Deadline: February 22, 2025 at 11:59 pm Cape Breton University and Dalhousie have partnered to establish the Cape Breton Medical Campus in Sydney, Nova Scotia, with the goal of enhancing healthcare delivery in rural communities. CBMC aims to train a new generation of physicians skilled in family medicine, rural practice, and Indigenous health, contributing to Nova Scotia’s evolving health reform agenda. We are seeking a Director of Faculty Development to provide leadership for the development and delivery of faculty development programs across all CBMC sites. Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean, CBMC, and the Associate Dean of Continuing Professional Development in Medical Education (CPDME), Dalhousie University, the Director will be responsible for ensuring the alignment of faculty development programs with accreditation standards and supporting academic career development for faculty involved in teaching and scholarly activities. This is a Part-Time (0.2 FTE) position. Key responsibilities include: Designing and implementing a sustainable curriculum for faculty development. Collaborating with faculty leadership and stakeholders across CBMC, Dalhousie University, and external medical organizations. Ensuring integration of programming into clinical departments and interprofessional initiatives. Monitoring the effectiveness of the programs through continuous quality improvement practices. Contributing to research and scholarship in Continuing Professional Development (CPD). To be considered, candidates must hold: Master’s degree in Education or Medical Education is considered an asset. Ability to work a flexible schedule. Excellent communication skills with the ability to organize and prioritize workloads, as well as the ability to work independently and multi-task in a deadline-driven, team environment. Ability to navigate and work with confidential settings with sensitive data. Knowledge of medical education programs and/or academic health care environment would be beneficial. Demonstrated self-starter that has shown to exercise initiative and sound judgment in all aspects of work. This role is a 0.2 FTE role and the ability to work flexible hours within the CBMC schedule structure is a requirement.
