Director of Rural Medical Services (Rural Generalist) Applications close: Monday 17th February 2025 Lifestyle Location in the Heart of the Greater Whitsunday Region Part-time Health Executive/Medical Administration Leadership Role Competitive Remuneration THE OPPORTUNITY The Mackay Hospital and Health Service located in the beautiful Mackay Whitsunday Region in Northern Queensland is seeking an experienced medical leader to support the Rural Medical Services. The Mackay HHS region covers Sarina in the south, Clermont in the west, and Bowen and the Whitsunday Islands in the northeast. It services approximately 182,000 people in an area of approximately 90,000km2. The Mackay HHS has six hospitals, two Multi-Purpose Health Services and three community health centres that employ more than 3,300 staff. The Mackay Base Hospital is the referral hospital for the rural facilities at Proserpine, Bowen, Dysart, Clermont, Collinsville, Moranbah and Sarina. Proserpine Hospital is the largest rural facility and offers birthing and surgical services. THE ROLE The Director of Rural Medical Services is accountable for leading, directing, implementing, planning and evaluating the delivery of medical services across all rural facilities within the Mackay Hospital and Health Service to the highest professional and ethical standards. THE CANDIDATE The successful candidate will need to demonstrate an ability for autonomous decision making based on medical, policy and regulatory frameworks in support of the rural medical service. An ability to work collaboratively with leadership groups and healthcare team members and work collectively to apply the principles of clinical governance. At all times they must employ professional and clinical expertise in collaboration with medical executive and multidisciplinary stakeholders and work to embody the values of Mackay HHS in the delivery of patient centred care. The role offers a lifestyle option for an experienced medical professional with a permanent part-time contract of 40 hours per fortnight.
