We are seeking an experienced and practical Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager to oversee and manage all aspects of EHS spanning design, integration, production, field test and maintenance activities, across Sea, Land and Air Domains. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining fit-for-purpose EHS practices and processes to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. WHAT YOU'LL DO Coach a culture of safety built on individual ownership and pausing to consider how we keep ourselves and each other safe in a wide range of environments. Work with functional teams to pragmatically identify, prioritise, and mitigate hazards. Develop enabling EHS practices and procedures across the organisation. Liaise and engage with defence customers, regulatory bodies, and external stakeholders as required. Manage and coordinate EHS training programs for team members. Identify and maintain task-specific qualifications and licenses across the organisation, and coordinate initial and revalidation training. Coordinate with the People Operations team to manage workplace-related injuries and return to work. Oversee the management of hazardous materials, including storage, disposal, and emergency response planning. Ensure that sites are compliant with environmental laws and permits. Advise leadership on EHS-related issues and recommend changes to protect team members, including modifications to machinery, personal protective equipment, and practices. ATTRIBUTES & REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Practical, hands-on approach with an ability to step back and look at the bigger picture. Acute understanding of ‘real-world effects’ and the practicalities of keeping team members safe in laboratory, factory, and field environments. Qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering or Science/Technology. Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS leadership, preferably in Technology development or similar environments – experience with autonomous systems and/or human factors is highly desirable. Knowledge of lithium battery technology and safety. Experience managing safety in offshore operations. Ability to travel frequently in support of fixed and deployed locations across Australia. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage a range of audiences. Proficiency in EHS management systems and software. Ability to obtain and maintain a NV2 Security Clearance. The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
