The Commission established the Clinical Care Standards program to support clinical experts and consumers develop Clinical Care Standards on health conditions that would benefit from a national coordinated approach. This approach recognises that appropriateness of clinical care is a major focus for improving the quality of health care and aims to address areas of unwarranted variation in health care.The Senior Project Officer will lead the development of clinical care standards and associated resources, and identify implementation strategies within a quality improvement framework. This will include managing the day-to-day work of a clinical care standards project which includes: project management, research and analysis of clinical information, resource development and writing, preparation of briefing papers and project correspondence policy development, stakeholder management, and facilitation of meetings. The officer will be a member of the Clinical Care Standards Program team and will work collaboratively with other relevant programs within the Commission.Under the direction of the Director, Clinical Care Standards, the Senior Project Officer will be expected to work independently, with limited supervision, and within a team context. The key duties of the position include: Duties of the Senior Project Officer will include, but are not limited to, the following: Lead the development, review and drafting of clinical care standards in consultation with clinicians, consumers, researchers and Commission staff. Undertake project management activities related to the development and implementation of the Clinical Care Standards including:project planning and documentation identifying, monitoring and reporting of project milestones providing recommendations about managing risk identifying and solving problems. Review and analyse health and medical research, guidelines, reports, websites and other published material relevant to the clinical care standard(s), as part of an evidence-based development process, and to inform policy and program direction. Identify and engage with experts to establish Topic Working Groups, and lead facilitation of their meetings. Draft clinical care standards in consultation with the Clinical Care Standard Topic Working Group(s). Develop consultation strategies and analyse the consultation feedback. Develop communication and implementation plans and strategies, and support and manage their implementation, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as required. Participate in, and present at committee meetings, forums and workshops on relevant topics. Prepare high-quality written reports, briefs and other documents for a range of audiences on complex healthcare issues. Provide general support to the Team including keeping the Clinical Care Standards Program Director, Clinical Care Standards Team and Chief Executive Officer informed about progress and strategic implications. Support continuous improvement and development of the Clinical Care Standards program, processes and procedures considering the Commission's strategic vision and development processes.
