The Engineering Associate (Mechanical) – Project & Design Engineer reports directly to the Engineering Manager but has an indirect reporting line to the Senior Operations Engineer. In conjunction with Mill engineering staff, the Project and Design Engineer is responsible for: The development and implementation of the ICSM capital works program, including: The management and supervisory of the capital works program, and other projects or maintenance works as required and directed by the Engineering Manager. The production of accurate engineering drawings involving designs to Australian Standards, engineering design fundamentals and regulatory requirements. Design calculations to be performed only to the level of qualifications and competence. Responsible for plant data recording of installed equipment associated with capital and maintenance items generated in the drawing office from C.A.D. and design through to purchasing. Maintain an up-to-date index of all drawings “in house” as well as others. Management of the engineering drawing register and typical CAD work pertaining to the Mill and associated activities includes: Factory and plant layout. Piping circuits - Pumps and tanks. Machinery, mechanical componentry and buildings. Foundations. Railway and yard systems and associated equipment. Housing. As an engineering supervisor the position requires nomination for weekend supervision and on-call on a rostered basis. Together with the Engineering Manager, involve appropriate department heads and supervisors for input where such persons have contributions to make particularly when a project or a redesign involves their section. Additional or alternate duties may be assigned from time to time dependent on the incumbent’s skills or development needs, or as required to suit the needs of the business. Desired Experience Minimum 3-5 years equivalent experience in a project management or technical engineering role. Demonstrated knowledge and hands-on experience pertaining to Industrial / manufacturing plant, preferably that of a raw sugar factory operation supported by computer-aided design software e.g. AutoCAD, Inventor, 3D Modelling and FEA. Proficient in use of Project Management software. Proficient in use of SAP CMMS. Demonstrated ability to lead diverse workgroups. Demonstrated working knowledge and application of Workplace Health & Safety Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice. Demonstrated working knowledge of application of Australian design and construction standards. Demonstrated working knowledge and application of Project development and Project Management processes and tools. Key Requirements Tertiary Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or Associate Diploma in Engineering with C.A.D. experience. Experience or Qualifications pertaining to engineering design and safety in the area of Structural, Mechanical, Civil, High-Risk Plant and adjuncts applicable to a raw sugar factory.
