Location: Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, AU, 2600 What you’ll be doing Act as a point of contact for clients, cultivating strong relationships, understanding their evolving needs, and providing exceptional customer service and support. Collaborate with both client IT and Business executive stakeholders to drive strategic outcomes and help shape the direction of our clients' data solutions. Foster innovation that enhances outcomes, reduces costs, and delivers value to our clients. Hands-on assistance with delivery of data pipelines. Assisting in planning & prioritization of client delivery components in alignment with the delivery method. Ensure critical design is implemented in accordance with the architecture over entire lifecycle, and managing changes to design by ensuring stakeholders are informed and agree to any changes. Support the planning and implementation of data design services, providing sizing and configuration assistance and performing needs assessments. Hold code reviews and peer review QA meetings. What will make you successful in this role? To succeed in this role as a Data Architect, you will need a combination of technical expertise, strong communication skills, and stakeholder engagement experience. You should be comfortable working directly with clients to gather requirements and translate business needs into scalable, high-performance data solutions. Key Requirements: An Australian citizen holding a baseline government security clearance. Strong Communication & Stakeholder Engagement – Ability to gather requirements, hold workshops, and articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related field. 6+ years of relevant experience in data engineering with a focus on modern cloud data platforms. Programming Skills – Proficiency in Python or Scala for data processing and transformation. Spark & Distributed Processing – Experience using Spark Notebooks for data transformation and performance tuning. SQL & Data Modelling – Expertise in SQL, dimensional modelling, and data warehouse design. Microsoft Fabric & Azure Expertise – Hands-on experience working with Fabric as a unified data platform (OneLake, Lakehouses, Delta Tables). Data Pipeline Development – Experience designing and building pipelines using Fabric Data Pipelines or Azure Data Factory. Performance Optimisation – Strong understanding of Spark, Delta Tables, and Medallion Architecture for efficient data processing. Ability to Work Independently & Collaboratively – A proactive approach to problem-solving and mentoring junior engineers. This role requires someone who can bridge the gap between technical development and business needs, ensuring solutions are effective, scalable, and aligned with organisational goals. Desirable: TOGAF and/or CDMP certification is desirable. Experience with all or some of Snowflake, Databricks, Denodo, Alation, Vault speed. Why is this an exciting opportunity?
