ABOUT THE ROLE This role requires frequent interaction with department managers, employees, and external stakeholders such as unions, IR/HR consultants, contractors, and HR service providers. The ER Specialist will provide expert employee relations support, ensuring compliance with workplace laws and company policies while fostering a positive and fair work environment. Your key duties will include: Provide expert advice on employee relations (ER) and industrial relations (IR) matters, ensuring compliance with employment laws, company policies, and industry standards. Support and advise managers and employees on workplace relations issues, including performance management, disciplinary matters, grievances, and workplace conflict resolution. Assist in handling workers’ compensation claims and support the return-to-work process. Support the enterprise bargaining process, including agreement drafting, employee consultation, and coordination of voting and registration procedures. Provide guidance on union-related activities, including responding to inquiries and facilitating discussions between employees and union representatives. Assist in developing and maintaining remuneration and benefits strategies, ensuring alignment with industry benchmarks and company objectives. Analyze and interpret key HR and ER metrics, providing insights to improve employee engagement and workplace relations. Conduct and support investigations into employee complaints, disputes, and workplace misconduct, ensuring fair and transparent processes. Stay up to date with changes in employment law and industrial relations regulations, providing proactive recommendations to the business. Support internal and external training programs related to employee relations, workplace policies, and compliance. Maintain and foster positive relationships with employees, management, and external stakeholders to support a collaborative and productive work environment. THE IDEAL APPLICANT WILL HAVE Tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Industrial Relations, Law, or a related field. Strong knowledge of Australian employment law, workplace relations, and industrial relations frameworks. Experience in handling employee relations matters, workplace investigations, and dispute resolution. Familiarity with enterprise bargaining processes and employment contracts. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills. Ability to work independently and provide sound, practical advice in a fast-paced environment.
