The College was established in 2013 with an enrolment of 331 students and reached a peak of 2366 students in 2023. The Wyndham area has seen the opening of more than 10 schools in the past few years which has resulted in the altering of the College’s enrolment zones and consequently the College is beginning to see a decline in enrolments, particularly in the primary area. This will need careful management throughout the new School Strategic Plan. The secondary enrolment numbers grew rapidly throughout the last School Strategic Plan and during the turbulent times of COVID-19. Student wellbeing and engagement proved to be a challenge because of the rapid growth and disrupted learning period and has required the college to rethink its approach to ensure students develop the skills needed to be confident, resilient, aspirational students who reach their best. Selection Criteria SC 1 - The ability to provide expert advice in the areas of Careers Counselling and Post-Secondary Pathways for students, parents and staff. SC 2 - Demonstrated ability to apply sound theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in the areas of Careers Counselling including but not limited to Careers options, VTAC applications, SEAS applications and post-secondary options. SC 3 - Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills and high-level interpersonal skills including a capacity to develop relationships with students, parents and other staff. SC 4 - Demonstrated ability to accurately maintain databases and records directly related to the role and provide general administrative assistance. SC 5 - Demonstrated and proven administrative skills to support teams. SC 6 - Demonstrated commitment to professional learning and growth of both self and others. Role Hours of Work: The hours of work for this position will be 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. The successful applicant will work in between Tarneit P-9 College and Tarneit Senior College. The successful applicant will have formal qualifications within Course Counselling/Careers Advisory or extensive knowledge of course counselling in a school environment. Position Summary The Careers Practitioner/Administration helps prepare students for the world of work and links career and subject choice to independent learning. The Careers Practitioner/Administration supports students about careers of the future and provides information and resources to assist them to plan their future vocational direction and opportunities in post school life. Responsibilities Primary Responsibilities Work as a member of the Careers and Pathways Team to ensure careers and pathways planning is an integral part of each year level. Course counselling for students across years 7-12, including one to one counselling services for students, parents, and the wider community. Liaise with and provide information to parents, staff and students about school administration procedures and policy. Support Careers & Pathways team with administration as required. Provide support in the implementation of Careers Education Framework. Contribute to the development of Careers newsletters, circulars, and other documentation to be provided to the school community. Provide administrative support for specific school programs. Liaise with service providers, welfare agencies and relevant organisations to facilitate student referral. Student support in pathways related areas such as Work Experience placements and careers expo's. Assist with the organisation and facilitation of college wide events, including Careers Expo, Work Experience, Structured Workplace Learning and Careers specific events. Assist students with resume writing, job applications and interview practice as appropriate. Support Leading Teachers with Coordinating Information rollout, counselling for selection of VTAC and other study options. Maintain and make available all records regarding student pathways. Support and track the successful transition to further education and employment and other destination data reports accurately to remain compliant with DET mandated requirements.
