As a Greenhouse Gas Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in managing emissions data, supporting external audits, and influencing ESG strategies. Based in Brisbane or Sydney, this role sits within the Financial Control, GHG Emissions & Systems Transformation team, reporting directly to the GHG Accounting Manager. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure sustainability data integrity, compliance, and reporting excellence. What You’ll Do Oversee GHG inventory data accuracy and ensure compliance with public disclosures. Collate, analyse, and report carbon emissions data from underwriting, investments, and operational activities. Manage external third-party audits and assurance processes for emissions reporting. Maintain and improve the GHG Accounting Platform, integrating it into business processes. Support senior leadership with data-driven insights to enhance sustainability reporting. Partner with key stakeholders to ensure strategic net-zero outcomes and regulatory compliance. Provide environmental sustainability data for external sustainability rating agencies. Conduct variance analysis and ensure corrections on GHG metrics before public disclosure. Enhance ESG reporting processes by identifying efficiency improvements and automation opportunities. Support emissions modelling and scenario analysis, using accurate baseline data and industry benchmarks. Who You Are Experience: 3+ years in Sustainability, GHG/Carbon Accounting, or Environmental Data Analytics. Qualifications: CA/CPA qualification is required, along with a degree in GHG Accounting, Sustainability, or Analytics (preferred but not mandatory). Technical Skills: Strong grasp of GHG reporting standards, emissions quantification, and ESG frameworks (e.g., NGERS, SASB, TCFD, GHG Protocol, PCAF). Data Proficiency: Experience in data analysis, modelling, and reporting using platforms such as SQL, Power Query, or equivalent. Problem Solver: Analytical mindset with the ability to identify gaps, track trends, and optimise reporting methodologies. Stakeholder Management: Ability to engage with internal teams and external regulators to ensure reporting accuracy and compliance.
