This is an opportunity to join the Octopus Australia team in our Sydney office. The successful applicant will be able to join the Octopus Investments Australia team on their mission to accelerate Australia's transition to a future powered by renewable energy. The role of ESG & Sustainability Analyst is responsible for developing, implementing, and executing Octopus Australia’s ESG and sustainability strategies. This role will focus on asset and organisational carbon measurement and reporting, aligned with domestic and international standards. The ESG & Sustainability Analyst will play a key role in ESG data collation, preparing detailed ESG reports, and undertaking climate-related risk assessments for renewable energy assets. About Octopus Group Octopus Group is one of the largest owners of renewable energy projects in Europe and Australia. It owns some 260 assets, on behalf of wholesale and institutional investors. Domestically, Octopus Australia is responsible for managing over $1 billion of assets for local and international investors. Octopus Australia Established in 2018, Octopus Australia is a dynamic multi-disciplinary team of over 55 highly skilled people which spans the expertise required to realise and operate a renewable energy and battery storage portfolio. With an existing multi-GW portfolio of operating and development assets, including solar, wind and grid battery storage across the country, we are continuing to grow to create a long-term business that can deliver a firmed energy product to meet the evolving needs of Australia’s energy future. About the Role Responsibilities Develop, implement, and execute Octopus Australia’s ESG and sustainability strategy, aligned with asset/organisational objectives - Lead the creation and execution of Octopus Australia’s ESG and sustainability strategy that aligns with both organisational and asset-specific goals, ensuring sustainability initiatives drive long-term value and operational resilience. Asset/organisational carbon measurement and reporting - Manage the measurement, tracking, and reporting of carbon emissions across assets and the organisation, ensuring data accuracy and compliance with carbon reduction targets and industry standards. Prepare ESG reports aligned with domestic and international standards - Prepare comprehensive ESG reports that comply with global standards such as GRESB, TCFD, SFDR, and EU Taxonomy, ensuring transparency and alignment with regulatory requirements. Prepare climate-related risk assessments for renewable energy assets - Conduct climate-related risk assessments for renewable energy assets, identifying physical and transitional risks, and integrating climate resilience into asset management strategies. Identify and assess ESG risks and opportunities - Identify and assess ESG risks and opportunities across the organisation, prioritising actions to manage risks and leverage opportunities for improved sustainability performance. Lead ESG and sustainability data collection, analysis, and reporting - Oversee ESG data collection, analysis, and reporting, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timely delivery of insights to support decision-making and performance improvements. Prepare roadmap for Octopus Australia to become a B Corp Qualifications Ideally, you will have some or all of the following qualifications, skills and experiences: Background in climate, ESG, and sustainability reporting frameworks. Experience collating/integrating ESG data from a range of sources. Experience producing meaningful reports for internal and external stakeholders. Experience in reviewing ESG regulatory requirements to determine compliance. Administrative management experience with highly developed organisational and administrative skills and keen attention to detail. A demonstrable interest in ESG, impact, and renewable energy. Strong stakeholder engagement skills, to manage processes and to track outputs as well as a proven ability in business skills such as report collation/preparation, database administration, presentation and spreadsheet use. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Software packages (MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Visio). Knowledge and understanding of MS SharePoint and other databases.
