The work area This role sits within the Economic and Revenue Forecasting Directorate which is part of the Economic business unit. The Economic and Revenue Forecasting Directorate monitors and analyses economic conditions in Western Australia, its key trading partners and commodity markets, as well as trends in revenues. It forecasts key economic aggregates, as well as tax and mining revenues (accounting for around half of total revenue) for the State. The opportunity Are you passionate about economics and want to deepen your understanding of the Western Australian and global economies? This is a pool process and can be used to fill permanent and fixed term vacancies that may arise within the next 6 months. We are looking for individuals with strong conceptual and analytical skills who can evaluate both quantitative and qualitative information and communicate results effectively. In this role, you will: Prepare forecasts and advice on the outlook for the Western Australian economy, key export and commodity markets, and what that means for State government taxes and mining royalties. Use a range of models and techniques to analyse data from various sources, as well as information gained from consulting with experts from other agencies and the private sector, to inform forecasts and advice.
