Job Description

We have a Permanent Full-time opportunity available based in Western Metro, VIC within our MacKillop Education Program. About the role: Our vision at MacKillop Education is to ensure equity and access to learning for all children and young people who are vulnerable and disengaged from education. To further realise our vision, this role will be focused on enhancing learning outcomes for children and young people who face multiple barriers to school engagement. This role expands on the knowledge and experience of the MacKillop Education programs, extending the reach to support children experiencing family violence and/or homelessness within McAuley’s programs. The Education Specialist will provide outreach education support and advocacy to children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. The Education Specialist is a member of the Education and Engagement team and reports to the Project Manager - Education Strategy for Children in Care. Key Selection Criteria: To be successful in this role, you will have: A knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families. Experience working with children and young people who are disengaged or at risk of disengaging from education. Experience working with children and young people experiencing family violence and/or homelessness will be highly regarded. Experience in developing, implementing, and reviewing student learning and engagement plans. Please address the full Key Selection Criteria outlined in the PD as part of your application.
