Salary: 134,567 - $161,521 + up to 15.4% Superannuation Locations: Bullsbrook - WA, Eagle Farm - QLD, Edinburgh - SA, Eveleigh - NSW, Fairbairn - ACT, Fishermans Bend - VIC, Scottsdale - TAS The Role As a Senior Analyst in the Project Analysis and Advice (PAA) team, you will be responsible for briefing Senior Defence Science & Technology Group (DSTG) representatives on Defence capability committees, including the Chief Defence Scientist (CDS). You will prepare briefing material and develop technology risk assessment material by consulting and collaborating with a range of Subject Matter Experts across DSTG and Defence. This position provides an opportunity to bring your skills and experience to a multifaceted, fast-paced and dynamic work environment by: Providing independent advice on Major capital Equipment Projects to senior leaders including the CDS, DSTG Program Chiefs and DSTG Program Leaders. Preparing and reviewing briefings for CDS and other senior managers on the Innovation, Science & Technology (IS&T) related aspects of capability proposals due for consideration by Defence Capability Committees. Facilitating the development, review and assurance of Technology Risk Assessments for Defence capability projects in support of the project’s consideration and approval by Defence capability committees. Driving and implementing continuous improvement in technology risk assessments and other related DSTG advice to capability projects. Supporting and influencing the Defence Science & Technology Portfolio and DSTG IS&T advice to Defence capability projects, including DSTG’s contribution to Cabinet Submissions. Making a direct contribution to Defence capability to safeguard Australia’s national interests. About our Team The Project Analysis & Advice (PAA) team is DSTG's central point for developing technology risk advice in relation to Defence Capability projects. Our team enables DSTG to shape the acquisition of Defence technology by providing robust and independently assured technology risk advice across the Integrated Investment Program. Technology risk is a major factor to be considered in the acquisition of new Defence capabilities. While the application of developmental technology can potentially offer enhanced capability over existing systems, it can also lead to unexpected delays and delivery issues. DSTG conducts technology risk assessments to inform Defence capability projects and stakeholders so that potential areas of risk can be managed and treated appropriately.
