EL1 - Asset Accounting and Reporting Manager AUD 80,000 - 100,000 $115,899 - $130,733 + up to 15.4% Superannuation Canberra - ACT The Role As an EL 1 Assistant Director within the Financial Reporting and Asset Accounting Directorate, you will be accountable for the following: Managing and leading a team by providing clear and consistent communication, setting clear performance and behavioural standards, managing expectations and performance, delegating, guiding and developing people. Managing the delivery of Defence’s monthly and annual financial reporting and asset accounting statutory requirements. Overseeing activities in balance sheet management, asset accounting and financial statements analysis and reporting. Managing financial governance requirements and ensuring compliance with the Commonwealth financial management framework. Developing position papers, providing sound accounting advice to stakeholders on technical financial accounting, and fixed asset management issues. Managing Defence’s engagement with the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) through collation and provision of documentation to support the audit of Defence’s financial statements. Implementing data quality strategies and financial system remediation to manage data governance for accurate asset accounting and financial reporting. Understanding and aligning Defence’s financial reporting and asset management to its mission and business objectives. Building and sustaining relationships with various stakeholders and subject matter experts to deliver on Defence’s reporting outcomes, including the ANAO auditors, business and operational areas, military personnel and other Federal Government agencies. Motivating and mentoring teams, aligning complementary skills and allocating resources to deliver results in accordance with Defence's financial objectives. Assessing and evaluating financial strategy, initiatives, projects, policies and procedures, and engaging in activities to achieve immediate team and broader Departmental improvement. About our Team The Financial Reporting and Asset Accounting Team is responsible for Defence’s external financial reporting function, including the financial accounting of Defence’s assets throughout their capability lifecycle. They are also accountable for policy advice, compliance assurance and conducting quality assurance checks on financial accounting activities. The team’s judgement is relied upon to deliver professional advice and reporting around complex assets and financial arrangements, business processes and multi-year billion-dollar projects.The teams are responsible for the financial accounting behind the largest asset base in the Commonwealth valued in the hundreds of billions of dollars.
