Your New Role: You will be an Electrochemical and/or Materials Scientist/Engineer with a passion for developing advanced technologies and translating them into real-world applications. This role requires you to work as part of a multidisciplinary team of scientists and engineers from diverse backgrounds. This will require an inquisitive personality and excellent analytical skills. To be effective in the role, you will be required to have personal initiative to accomplish technological innovation and creativity in support of new technology and business development. You will be based in our laboratories in Clayton, Victoria. This role reports to both a Project Lead for day-to-day delivery and a Practice Lead for professional growth and development. What You’ll Do: Designing, developing, testing and optimising materials, prototype reactors and electrochemical components with a focus on scalability. Designing and executing experiments that demonstrate performance and reliability. Applying chemical and materials science/engineering knowledge and tools to solve design problems systematically and quantitatively, in a data driven approach. Providing input on standard operating protocols and safety protocols for new and existing laboratory processes. Collaborating with team members to diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues that arise. Who You Are: Qualifications & Experience BSc/BE in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or a related field (MSc/PhD preferred). 3+ years of experience in product/process development, ideally in a dynamic environment where prototypes evolve into commercial solutions. Key Skills Comfortable working with ambiguity and adapting to evolving challenges. Self-motivated and resourceful in solving complex technical problems. Hands-on approach to developing and refining prototypes. Strong understanding of laboratory safety and advanced equipment use. Willingness to experiment, iterate, and develop new analytical techniques. Effective collaborator who thrives in cross-functional and fast-moving teams. Knowledge Areas Strong foundation in electrochemistry and practical electrolysis cell science. Familiarity with analytical and characterization techniques such as chromatography, microscopy, spectroscopy, and diffraction. Understanding of materials synthesis methods and their application in real-world scenarios. Preferred Experience Exposure to air-sensitive experimental techniques. Experience in developing and validating products such as fuel cells, electrolysers, or flow batteries. Background in materials synthesis and development, including membranes, electrocatalysts, catalysts, and electrolytes. Experience with iterative testing under high-pressure conditions (>10 bar). Position: Electrochemical and/or Materials Scientist/Engineer Reports to: This role reports to both a Project Lead for day-to-day delivery and a Practice Lead for professional growth and development. Location: Onsite (Clayton, Victoria) Service fraction: Full-Time (1.0 FTE) Hours: 38hrs per week, Monday to Friday Salary: We offer a salary benchmarked to market standards starting at $100,000+* on a F/T basis (plus super) - *Actual base salary determined based on location, qualifications, skills, and experience.
