Emergency Preparedness Peer Leader Employment Register - North West Region (T05315) Australia, Tas Jan 31, 2025 Technology Casual - Fixed Term About Tasmania Government About the Tasmanian State Service The Tasmanian State Service (TSS) is the largest employer in Tasmania, with over 28,000 employees providing services to the Tasmanian community at all levels. A fixed-term employment register is not a vacancy and inclusion on a register does not guarantee any offer of employment will be made. This Register is for the North West region; separate registers are open for the Southern and North regions. Period of Appointment Casual - 12 months Duties The Disability Emergency Preparedness Project helps people living with disability in Tasmania to be ready for emergencies. An Emergency Preparedness Peer Leader supports people with disability living and working in flood and bushfire prone areas to prepare for natural disasters. The Head of the State Service has determined that a person nominated for appointment to this position must satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, promotion, or transfer. Any relevant serious criminal offence or repeated serious offences over any period, which are not mitigated by additional information, may provide grounds for declining an application for appointment. Such offences include, but are not limited to: Arson and fire setting; Sexual offences; Dishonesty (e.g., theft, burglary, breaking and entering, fraud); Deception (e.g., obtaining an advantage by deception); Violent crimes and crimes against the person; Malicious damage and destruction to property; Trafficking of narcotic substances. Registration to Work with Vulnerable People The Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Act 2013 requires persons undertaking work in a regulated activity to be registered. A regulated activity is a child-related service or activity defined in the Registration to Work with Vulnerable People Regulations 2014. This position requires a current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment). This registration must remain current and valid at all times while employed in this role, and its status may be checked at any time during employment. Minimum Qualifications Knowledge and understanding of the lived experiences of people with disability. Disability sector-related qualifications and experience. Experience in delivering activities relating to community development, community resilience, and/or emergency management.
