TCSA Salaried Employees Award, Clerk Grade 9/10, annual package from $141,833 (includes base salary $134,504 + superannuation & leave loading) Taronga Zoo Sydney is looking for an experienced and motivated Employee Relations Business Partner to join our People Operations team. Taronga Zoo is looking for a dynamic Employee Relations Business Partner to lead transformative HR initiatives and partner with leaders to drive workforce success. With a strong focus on employee relations, industrial relations, and HR project management, this role is at the forefront of cultivating an engaged, high-performing workforce. About the Role… To drive strategic HR projects, provide strategic and operational employment/industrial relations advice and end-to-end generalist support to employees, managers, staff, and the PCS team. The role has responsibility for mentoring/supervising HR Advisors and managing employee and industrial relations activities in partnership with the Manager, People Operations and Divisional Director – People, Culture & Safety. Develop and maintain partnerships with senior executives and managers to develop people initiatives and find solutions to people challenges across the full employee life cycle (e.g., workforce planning and recruitment, performance reviews, talent and succession planning, employee engagement). Manage workforce planning activities and projects in consultation with Taronga’s Management and Executive Team, providing advice and support to managers and employees regarding workforce composition and capabilities and organisational goals. Build capability by providing coaching, guidance, and support to people leaders and HR Advisors in relation to complex matters including the management of performance, grievances and dispute resolution, absences, behaviour-related discussions, termination of employment and managing organisational change. Conduct investigations into grievances, misconduct and unsatisfactory performance. Provide specialist advice, guidance, and training to people leaders, employees and People Operations team members in relation to the interpretation and application of industrial instruments, legislation (e.g., NSW Public Sector legislation, in particular the Government Sector Employment Act, Regulations and Rules), circulars and directions, contracts of employment and people policies, guidelines and practices. Partner with and support a dedicated client group(s), assessing and anticipating their HR-related needs and acting as a change agent, including leading the development and implementation of HR initiatives, day-to-day HR activities, and cyclical events across the full employee life cycle. Partner with the Manager, People Operations to effectively manage employment relations projects, including the review and negotiation of Awards, HR policies and procedure reviews, employee entitlements and contribute towards projects. Develop and maintain relationships with appropriate stakeholders both internal and external, in particular all Unions party to Taronga’s award and relevant NSW government agencies, acting as a contact for discussions with Unions to resolve employee issues and complaints. Provide support to the WHS team in regard to Workers Compensation and non-work-related injuries as they impact employee relations issues. We are looking for candidates that have: Tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or a related discipline and/or extensive relevant experience in a similar role. Experience providing strategic and operational human resource advice. Demonstrated success in the organisational application of employment legislation and industrial instruments. Extensive experience in employee relations, investigations and case management, dispute resolution, and the ability to investigate incidents using a consultative approach. Highly developed interpersonal skills in coaching and developing teams and individual team members. Customer-focused with excellent verbal and written communication skills and are comfortable engaging both in person and virtually. Hold a valid clearance to work with children (Working with Children Check). Desirable: Mercer CED accreditation; Return to Work and Mental Health First Aid qualifications.
