Established in 2021, we are a growing team focused on providing support to: Individuals with congenital or acquired disabilities, injuries, and chronic health conditions People following spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries Neurodivergent individuals, including those with ADHD and Autism The Role: We are seeking an Employment Specialist to assist NDIS participants with capacity building supports related to their NDIS employment goals. These supports will vary for each individual and may include building skills for work, job searching, or changing jobs. You will meet participants in the community (Metropolitan Sydney) or via video call. Compensation: $50 per hour (including superannuation) for billable work (employment can be either casual or on a contractor basis) – this role would suit a university student or someone who is working casually or as an independent contractor for other organisations. Responsibilities: Employment Coaching: Assist with disability disclosure decisions, interviewing techniques, LinkedIn training, and identifying unadvertised job vacancies. Job-Seeking Documentation: Collaborate with participants to develop resume and cover letters. Employer Engagement: Reach out to employers via phone to facilitate work experience and volunteering opportunities. Employer Meetings and Education: Attend meetings with participants and educate employers about workplace needs, preferences, and necessary modifications. Connecting with Disability Employment Providers: Help participants engage successfully with a DES provider and collaborate with the DES to support them effectively. Here's What You Need: Kindness, empathy, and cultural awareness Ability to build genuine relationships with participants and employers Flexibility to self-manage and work independently Strong time management and organisational skills (or familiarity with digital tools to help with this!) Excellent verbal and written communication skills – willingness to pick up the phone! Attention to detail to ensure accurate billing and documentation Strong resume and cover letter writing skills Commitment to stay updated on current best practices in resume writing, ensuring authenticity in job-seeking documents A Driver's license and access to own vehicle, NSW Working with Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain) are also essential. It’s a bonus if you have one or more of the below… Experience in occupational rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation or disability employment services Certificate IV in Career Development or Employment Services Commenced university studies in Rehabilitation Counselling, Psychology, Career Development, or related fields (there is opportunity to transition into a practitioner role in the future) Experience supporting NDIS Participants Experience supporting people who are long-term unemployed The ability to travel to Southwest and Western Sydney areas.
