Overview The Energy Analyst I is responsible for organizing and analyzing utility and supporting energy use data to assist with the review and evaluation of energy and cost efficiency opportunities. An Energy Analyst will frequently interact with clients, contractors, and engineers to fulfill the essential duties and responsibilities of the position. Responsibilities Specific responsibilities include: Energy Procurement and AnalyticsCollect, compile, organize, and analyze utility consumption data and rates. Develop a comprehensive understanding of utility supply-side opportunities. Develop a comprehensive understanding of utility procurement logistics. Develop a comprehensive understanding of possible utility energy efficiency rebate and incentive programs. Research utility rate changes and deregulated energy cost trends. Conduct energy benchmarks using internal and external tools such as EPA Energy Star. Review utility invoices for errors and work to resolve the errors with the utility. Create utility budgets. Energy AuditingAssist with the collection, review, and analysis of data collected from field surveys and utility data. Develop a thorough understanding of existing buildings and their MEP systems. Assist with the identification and evaluation of improvements for energy or cost reductions. Assist with the development of associated technical reports. Measurement and VerificationAssist with the development and implementation of IPVMP – Adherent Measurement and Verification (M&V) Plans. Develop energy consumption baselines and adjustments through regression analysis and other appropriate methods. Coordinate with clients, utility representatives, energy analysts, engineers, construction managers, and commission agents during all appropriate project stages to assist in the design and implementation of M&V plans for continuous monitoring of energy and water performance. Assist with the review of design documents, M&E specifications, and shop drawings of applicable metering systems to confirm all M&V requirements are met. Assist with the verification of utility performance of facilities and validate savings. Review and analyze energy performance including data collection, utility bill accounting, sub-metering data analysis, and utility cost analysis. Create, maintain, and distribute M&V dashboards and reports through multiple software platforms. Remote MonitoringAssist with the collection and evaluation of energy, weather, and building automation data on some periodic basis. Assist with the review of data and identification of facility operational issues affecting energy consumption, comfort, and/or code compliance. Assist with the development of recommendations to address any identified operational issues. Assist with the preparation of reports for project stakeholders summarizing all discoveries. Energy ModelingAssist with the development of engineering-based energy models to simulate existing and proposed operations of buildings or systems. Work collaboratively with team members to identify and evaluate the scope of potential improvements. Assist with the development of life cycle cost analyses and other engineering economic analyses. Assist with the development of supporting documentation on engineering calculations, methodologies, etc. as required. OtherUphold the Company owner advocacy philosophy, mission, and core values. Perform the assigned duties with minimal supervision while working in a team problem-solving environment. Assist with the development of technical reports or related documents. Qualifications Required Education, Experience, and Qualifications 4-year Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited university Thorough, organized, and with superb attention to detail. Proficient with computers. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment. Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors. Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary. Preferred Education, Experience, and Qualifications N/A Travel Requirements 5-10% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.
