WHAT SOUTH32 OFFERS 26 weeks full-paid, or 52 weeks half-paid parental leave for primary carers Ability to purchase up to 4 weeks of additional annual leave The opportunity to become a shareholder of South32 through our share plans Short-term incentive bonus paid annually ABOUT THE ROLE This role is a Permanent position on a 9-day fortnight working week, at our Worsley Alumina Refinery, which is a short drive from Collie (15 minutes), Bunbury (45 minutes) and other nearby scenic communities. As the Senior/Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer you will be responsible for the integrity of the tailings and water storage facilities on site during operation, construction and closure phases of these facilities. The RTFE should understand the tailings and water storage facilities for which they are responsible, the risks, and the manner in which those risks are being managed, including any failures, deficiencies, or opportunities for improvement. This role will give you the opportunity to deliver challenging projects and provide technical leadership in tailings management. Key Responsibilities: Define and develop clear project deliverables for tailings expansion, deposition, geotechnical investigation and dam safety projects Accountable and responsible for the integrity of the TSFs during their operation, construction and closure Technical review of documentations relating to tailings and water dams across all stages of the asset’s lifecycle. Implementation of the design of the TSFs and planning of remedial works Lead the monitoring of TSF and water dam performance Participation in team development and upskilling activities supporting an inclusive and high performing team environments consistent with South32 values. ABOUT YOU You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following: Experience in the design, construction, operation and monitoring of TSF and water dams Understanding of technical standards and regulations Ability to work in a team of technical engineers and field operators Capable of working with minimal supervision and able to manage priorities Qualifications: Engineering degree qualification in relevant engineering subject (civil, water, geotechnical) South32 is committed to building and maintaining an inclusive and diverse workforce that reflects the communities in which we operate.
