Engineering Design Manager - Transport Infrastructure - ( 250000XA ) Description About the role Stantec is growing in Australia and is on the lookout for a Design Manager to join our Queensland Transport Delivery team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to play a huge part in the success of the team by imparting your knowledge and experience and help to shape our future. This role you will be instrumental in enhancing project delivery and aligning technical efforts across the business centre. By becoming part of a dynamic team poised for growth, you will lead, develop, and uphold technical excellence within our Transport Delivery team, sustaining our client relationships, and seizing new business opportunities. You will oversee the delivery of projects to ensure the on-going profitability and success of key projects; provide technical leadership for local design outputs, to ensure all work meets the needs of clients and stakeholders. Additionally, you will provide mentorship and guidance to the team to cultivate a well-balanced skill set, ensuring dedication, transparent communication, and unity within the team. Day to day tasks would involve: Plan, program and coordinate projects to deliver the agreed project outputs on budget, on time and quality standards. Be responsible for the overall quality of designs to ensure a consistent standard is delivered. In consultation with Project Managers, coordinate project design resources to ensure successful project delivery that meets or exceeds clients' expectations. Contribute to proposal and bid development to support business development activities, including preparing proposal material as required. Build and maintain positive relationships with existing and potential clients through effective delivery of projects, meeting client needs, and resolving issues as they arise. Manage, mentor and train staff to develop technical capabilities locally. To be successful for this role you'll need: Tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering, ideally accredited as CPEng/RPEQ. 10 – 15 years’ experience within roads and highways with knowledge of technical standards and industry practice, with a strong focus on QLD-based authority requirements (Department of Transport and Main Roads, and Local Government). Experience in road design with knowledge of Austroads Guide to Road Design, ideally TMR Design Guidelines and relevant local council standards. Passion for mentoring, coaching, and sharing technical acumen with the team. Demonstrated experience in leading technical design and working with major clients in transport infrastructure projects. Proven track record of managing large-scale engineering projects successfully. Experience in strategic business planning and execution at a national or regional level.
