The Department for Energy and Mining (DEM) leads the global transformation economy, overseeing the responsible mining and production of the minerals, metals and fuels of the future, to safely and sustainably generate the energy and low carbon products of the future. About the Role: As the Engineering and Data Analytics Officer, you’ll: Provide technical advice and input on critical energy market modelling projects. Collaborate with engineers and energy modellers to plan the future power system. Conduct network analysis using PSS/E and market modelling with PLEXOS. Research and analyse power system needs like security, strength, and control. Manage and maintain datasets for energy modelling and analysis. Reporting Relationships: Reports to: Director, Energy Forecasting and Planning. Works with: Internal divisions and key energy market stakeholders. What We’re Looking For: Please address the dot points listed below in your application Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to engage with audiences at different levels. Extensive knowledge of the physical operation of electricity transmission systems, network constraints, and the overarching markets. Experience using PSS/E for load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis. Demonstratable experience and knowledge of performing analyses in PLEXOS or other similar software packages with high-level oversight and direction. Extensive experience in working with relational databases to analyse data, and familiarity with data modelling, including expertise in using data visualisation tools such as MS Power BI and SQL.
