Job Description
About the Role As the Environment and Safety Specialist, you will take the lead on implementing environmental and safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards, and driving continuous improvement. You’ll work onsite as part of a close-knit and supportive team, contributing to the smooth operations and sustainability of a vital energy generation facility. What You’ll Be Doing Overseeing environmental compliance, including licences, annual returns, and regulatory reporting. Leading site environmental projects such as spill containment and continuous improvement initiatives. Providing technical advice to enhance the site’s environmental and safety capabilities. Monitoring compliance with climate and greenhouse-related regulations (e.g., NGERS, Environmental Protection Licences). Supporting incident management and investigation, as well as audits and reporting obligations. Collaborating with contractors and internal stakeholders to deliver safety and environmental outcomes. Leading HSE meetings and safety conversations across site forums. What We’re Looking For A background in environmental science, engineering, or a similar field. Experience in operational industries such as energy, oil and gas, or manufacturing is highly desirable. Tertiary qualifications in environmental science or engineering (required). Additional qualifications in occupational health and safety (desirable). Strong understanding of environmental legislation, compliance, and ISO 14001 & 45001 standards. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships with a small, tight-knit team. The ability to work autonomously, prioritise tasks, and deliver practical solutions. The Work Environment Location : Onsite 5 days a week at Tallawarra Power Station. Hours : Standard hours are 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, with flexibility as required. Tools Provided : PPE, laptop, phone, and onsite parking. Culture : A collaborative and supportive leadership team that values autonomy and initiative.
