Job Description
This Permanent Full Time role is responsible for detailed analytical monitoring and developing technical reports on compliance with state and federal environmental regulatory permits and licences. With responsibilities that extend across water and wastewater, this role will also provide environmental engineering/specialist scientific advice on operational activities in accordance with ISO14001, current environmental legislation, best practice, and Council’s policies, procedures, and management plans. Ideally you will have: Tertiary Degree qualification in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or Applied Environmental Science. Demonstrated experience with integrated management systems (IMS) and the requirements of ISO14001 and ISO9001 particularly. Sound knowledge of state and federal environmental legislation, industry guidelines and best practices, including for vegetation and waterway management, soil erosion and sediment control, and contaminated land management. Demonstrated experience in the conduct of environmental risk assessments, site investigations, and reporting on environmental incidents. Ability to lead and conduct audits, prepare audit reports, and present audit findings. Research and analytical skills and the ability to develop documented work procedures. Good interpersonal, written and oral communication skills to liaise with regulatory authorities and provide environmental advice to all levels of staff. Demonstrated ability to organise, prioritise work, and prepare project plans with minimum supervision. High level of computer literacy skills and experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerBI, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as Council’s Business Management Systems.
