About Us Nestled in the lush, tropical surrounds of Fannie Bay in Darwin’s Top End, the Darwin Turf Club/Silks is famed for the running of the Great Northern Darwin Cup, the crescendo of an eight-day dry season carnival. With 39 race days a year, the trackside action happens all year round. Silks is a membership-based local community club including a bistro, gaming room, sports bar, and a few conference & events spaces around the business overlooking race ground. About the role The position is responsible for maximizing sales of Darwin Turf Club and Silks function and events business across all markets. This position is also responsible for cultivating and maintainingstrong corporate relationships within both the private and public sectors and be accountable for driving revenue from sponsorship assets. Key Responsibilities Sales & Events Manage and coordinate all events, including weddings, corporate functions, seminars, and events during race days. Prepare and present quotes and proposals to clients. Proactively seek new business opportunities through networking and industry events. Ensure clear communication of client expectations across relevant departments. Provide exceptional customer service and be available for site visits and sales appointments outside normal hours. Maintain client files, track past events, and follow up on sales opportunities. Ensure accurate accounting and financial records. Follow up on proposals, maintain detailed communication logs, and retain existing clients. Monitor market trends and competition to stay informed. Analyze sales data, address performance gaps, and resolve client complaints. Utilize advanced negotiation skills to secure business. Continuously evaluate and improve the sales process. Corporate Relationships Sell annual sponsorship packages and other assets at the Darwin Turf Club. Collaborate with teams to enhance the Corporate Partner experience. Build relationships to maximize revenue from corporate partners. Ensure exceptional service delivery to corporate partners. Assist with commercial reports, strategy development, and revenue analysis. Manage budgets and ensure financial compliance. Support marketing efforts for events and promotional activities Essential Qualification & Experience 2+ years’ experience in events or hospitality. Strong problem-solving, sales, and leadership skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Amadeus/Delphi (preferred). Experience in conference and event coordination. Ability to work weekends, public holidays, and under pressure. Excellent customer service and communication skills. Proven success in generating business, negotiating, and managing commercial agreements. Sales/partnership experience focused on client servicing. Strong commercial acumen and relationship-building skills. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
