Executive Director, Governance, Risk & Assurance We are seeking a strategic and influential leader with a passion for governance and risk management. Ongoing opportunity in the Policy, Strategy and Governance Division, based in Sydney, with in-office presence required. Flexible working arrangements are available. Salary package starting from $297,000 per annum to commensurate with experience. About the Role As a key member of the senior leadership team, you will shape the strategic direction of governance and risk functions, ensuring alignment with government policies and organisational priorities. You will also champion a culture of integrity, accountability, and continuous improvement, ensuring the department operates with transparency and efficiency. This is a high-impact role where your expertise will drive decision-making, strengthen risk frameworks, and safeguard the organisation’s reputation. Role Responsibilities Develop and implement governance, risk, and assurance frameworks to ensure compliance with legislative and policy requirements. Provide expert strategic advice to executive leadership, governance bodies, and key stakeholders on complex governance and risk matters. Lead and oversee key functions, including enterprise risk management, privacy, internal audit, fraud prevention, business continuity, and corporate compliance. Establish systems and processes that proactively identify and mitigate risks while enhancing organisational resilience. Maintain strong relationships with government agencies, regulators, and industry bodies to ensure alignment with broader governance and compliance standards. Does This Sound Like You? Strong capability in developing and implementing governance and risk frameworks within a complex organisational or government environment. Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence at executive and ministerial levels. A track record of driving cultural change and embedding best-practice risk management strategies. Exceptional leadership skills, with the ability to inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
