Executive Director Parliamentary Support Executive Contract Officer 2 (Remuneration Package $247,170) Parliamentary Support Division Fixed vacancy for 4 years in Darwin We are looking for a dynamic person to join our team and lead the Parliamentary Support Division of the Northern Territory’s parliament. The role will have responsibility for leading all parliamentary support functions, including committees, the chamber on sitting days, Hansard and our parliamentary research and library services as well as education and outreach services and security. The Department of the Legislative Assembly is the government agency responsible for providing support to the Parliament of the Northern Territory. We assist Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) in two key aspects: Working closely with the Speaker and all MLAs to uphold the parliamentary institution as custodians of parliamentary precedent and tradition, advising apolitically and impartially on the operation of the parliament. Assisting MLAs via the administration of their entitlements, including the provision of their offices and staff, travel and vehicles, and salaries and other allowances. This position will join the Clerk and Deputy Clerk as one of three executive managers within the Department and will carry responsibility for leading the half of our operations focused on parliamentary support. The position will deputise for the Clerk and Deputy Clerk when required, and there is an expectation that the successful candidate will have a detailed understanding of parliament or be able to acquire that understanding quickly. The position will play an important role in implementing our reform program which will transform the aspirations and objectives of our Strategic Plan into high-quality outcomes. We are looking for a leader who is comfortable with change, who can identify opportunities for improvement and who can build teams that provide professional and impartial services. The position is Darwin-based, and some work outside regular hours will be required to support the sittings of the Assembly. All of our staff are required to be politically impartial and free from associations that may call into question the political neutrality of the Department. The total remuneration package includes five weeks of annual leave as well as superannuation and a government-supplied vehicle with parking on site.
