The position of Executive Director, Communications, Engagement, and Executive Services (CE&ES) provides a senior leadership opportunity to support national education policy and the improvement of learning outcomes for school students across Australia. This position provides a critical opportunity to utilise expert communication and engagement skills, strategic leadership, and political acumen, playing a key role in supporting the ACARA Board, Executive Leadership Team (ELT), and advancing ACARA’s reputation. The Executive Director, Communications, Engagement, and Executive Services provides organisational leadership as a member of the ACARA Executive through leading the Communications, Engagement and Executive Services business unit. About the position: The position is responsible for: Leading the development and delivery of communication, engagement and executive services strategies to support ACARA’s vision and ensure alignment with the annual work plan. Providing high-level strategic advice to the CEO, ELT, and ACARA Board on key communications, engagement, and policy issues that align with ACARA’s strategic direction, and supporting the operations of the ACARA Board. Overseeing and leading comprehensive stakeholder and community engagement, and the delivery of high-impact campaigns and communications to promote ACARA’s work, raise awareness, and advance its reputation. To be successful, you will have: Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as education, business, management, social sciences or communications, and/or equivalent knowledge and experience. A significant record of achievement and management experience at a senior level and demonstrated ability to lead, manage and develop staff. Substantial experience in development and implementation of organisation-wide communication and engagement strategies, including the ability to implement operational plans that realise strategic goals. Comprehensive knowledge of communication and stakeholder engagement operations, and expertise in working with a wide range of communication channels and media, developing communication strategies and relations, preparing press releases, and articles for publication. A proven record of preparing significant briefings and presentations at Board and senior executive level and to other senior stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and political acumen complemented by highly effective negotiation and influencing capabilities, with a proven record in sustaining stakeholder relationships.
