Executive Level 1 - Assistant Director, People and Culture $118,049 to $129,870 (plus 15.4% superannuation) Join us to shape the future of one of Australia’s greatest natural assets and protect it for future generations. We are seeking people who want to contribute to a significant water reform program that aims to respond to the impacts of climate change, support community and industry needs, and improve access to water for First Nations people. The Murray-Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) is an independent government agency which, in partnership with Basin governments, manages the Murray–Darling Basin’s water resources in the national interest. With the enactment of the Water Act 2007, the MDBA was established as an independent expertise-based statutory agency. The MDBA aims to achieve a healthy working Basin for the benefit of all Australians. The Murray–Darling Basin contains a rich diversity of natural environments that are unique in Australia and the world. The Basin is also crucial to Australia’s economy and is home to 2.3 million Australians, including people from over 50 First Nations. The Position: Are you ready to make a real impact? Our People and Culture branch, within the Business Services Division, is at the heart of supporting the MDBA through high-quality HR services. Our mission is to provide crucial advice and develop innovative policies and programs that enhance our organisational culture, all while supporting our purpose – ‘Rivers, For Generations’. We partner with executives, teams, and individuals to build a strong, capable workforce. We are seeking passionate and driven HR leaders to join us in multiple roles at the Assistant Director, EL1 level. If you have experience in any of the below areas, we want to hear from you: Culture and Engagement Work, Health and Safety Talent Attraction and Recruitment Learning and Development Workplace Relations Your key responsibilities in this role are to: Lead a small team delivering high-quality and people-centred HR services and strategic projects in a fast-paced work environment with competing priorities. Manage complex and sensitive HR matters and provide technical advice that is consistent, accurate and timely. Research, interpret and apply information from internal employment framework including legislation, policies, procedures and Enterprise Agreement. Build and maintain effective working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders, both internal and external. Think strategically and have the ability to draw clear links between operational tasks and organisational goals, providing direction to others regarding this. Be agile and resilient in adapting to changing priorities and needs, based on broader organisational requirements and priorities as shaped by external factors. Maintain focus on quality to achieve outcomes and have a personal responsibility for seeing projects through to completion. Foster key relationships in a complex operating environment through a high standard of professional and personal integrity to build confidence as a reliable and trusted expert. Promote workplace practices consistent with the APS and MDBA Values, modelling high-quality leadership and management practices, and creating a dynamic, flexible and collaborative workplace culture.
