Job Description
The Deputy Commissioner and Deputy Chief Executive are tasked with driving the Strategic Direction of the Queensland Police Service. Each Executive is responsible for overseeing a number of QPS Divisions and Commands with specific areas of responsibility.The Executive Officer to the Deputy Commissioners/Chief Executive is a vital role providing all secretarial and administrative support to the respective Deputy, and is a key liaison point for internal and external stakeholder engagement.Your Key Accountabilities The core capability requirements for this role are: Provide executive pre-briefing to the Deputy Commissioner/Deputy Chief Executive for all committee meetings, ensuring consultation with responsible subject matter experts, and action items are completed. Keep abreast of current issues and trends which may impact on the service area and report findings to the executive, as well as actively reviewing and managing work priorities and deadlines and responding to emails on behalf of the executive, on a daily basis. Quality checking correspondence, submissions, briefing notes, and reports and provide advice to business areas where changes/clarification is required. Coordinate and manage administration support activities across the service area, whilst looking for and implementing areas of continuous improvement. Establish and maintain positive working relationships with service areas across the department, other State Government agencies and external stakeholders to enable consultation, liaison, and negotiation of priorities. Review, action or authorise financial and budget matters within the portfolio, including investigation of reduction or overspending, as required. Participate in the delivery and coordination of the unit's business functions and actively review and manage work priorities. Please note that there are 3 positions available based in Brisbane. The positions are within; Office of Deputy Commissioner, Regional Services; Office of Deputy Commissioner, Disaster and Emergency Management; Office of Deputy Chief Executive, Strategy and Corporate Services.
