Project Overview I'm seeking an experienced full-stack developer to evolve our newly established construction management platform. Our application aims to revolutionize construction project management by bridging the gap between site and office teams through intuitive design and (eventually) AI-powered features. The platform already has strong foundational elements, including robust budget and cost tracking features. I've built everything myself to this point, primarily with the assistance of AI (Claude AI + others), but now I'm looking to expand functionality, integrate AI capabilities, and develop a mobile solution for site teams. Tech Stack & Environment Backend: Python/Django Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript Deployment: Render Version Control: GitHub (with Projects for issue/feature tracking) Communication: Slack Development Methodology: Agile Key Responsibilities Enhance existing features and develop new ones with a focus on essential functionality Optimize UI/UX for both office and site team members Integrate AI tools (e.g., AWS Transcribe for automated meeting minutes, AWS Textract for document processing). All ideas are open for discussion. Develop and implement mobile-first features for site team usage Participate in agile development cycles with clear feature rollout timelines Utilize AI development tools to enhance productivity and code quality Required Experience & Skills Strong proficiency in Python and Django framework Proven full-stack development experience Construction industry experience or solid understanding of construction terminology (budgets, commitments, variations, drawings, etc.) Experience with AI service integration (AWS services or similar) Familiarity with mobile-first development approaches, or development of mobile apps. Strong Git workflow knowledge Experience with agile methodologies Project Vision Create an affordable, streamlined alternative to complex platforms like Procore Focus on essential features that deliver maximum value Leverage AI to automate routine tasks and enhance productivity Build intuitive interfaces that encourage adoption by traditionally tech-resistant site teams Create seamless communication channels between office and site teams Current Status & Next Steps Core application is deployed and operational on Render Budget and cost tracking features are implemented Multiple projects can be run through the app. Currently using Middleware-based filtering. Development processes established through GitHub Development best practices to be discussed and confirmed. UI/site redesign is first priority (colour scheme, layout, feel, etc.). User management is likely the next priority (adding users, managing permissions, ensuring correct project access). Requirements for Application Relevant experience examples, particularly in: Construction industry software (preferred) AI integration projects Mobile-first development Python/Django applications Availability for regular communication and development sprints Proposed hourly rate Brief statement on why you are interested in working on this project. Commitment Level Long-term project with immediate start Regular development sprints with clear deliverables Flexible hours but consistent communication required. I estimate 15-20 hours a week initially, to be discussed. The ideal candidate will combine technical expertise with an understanding of construction industry needs, bringing both development skills and practical insights to help shape the platform's evolution.
