External Affairs and Media Manager About Us Snowy Hydro is developing Australia's largest renewable energy project, Snowy 2.0, the pumped hydro expansion to the iconic Snowy Hydro-electric Scheme. One of the most complex infrastructure projects underway in the world, Snowy 2.0 will underpin the nation's transition to clean energy. About the Opportunity Reporting to the Head of External Affairs and Communications, you will be responsible for developing and implementing Snowy Hydro’s external communication and Stakeholder engagement strategies for the Snowy 2.0 project. Your role will be responsible for: Building and protecting Snowy Hydro’s reputation and enhancing stakeholder relationships Leading the external communications strategy and execution of corporate projects by providing advice to deliver engaging stories, positive coverage and government engagement. Growing and maintaining strong relationships with relevant media and developing and executing proactive media engagement strategies. Advising senior leaders on reputation opportunities and issues as they arise. Identifying story opportunities and developing content for various external distribution channels. Ensuring external messaging aligns with key business strategies. Assisting in the development of issue management plans and responses About You We’d like to hear from you if you have the following: Extensive experience in media relations, external affairs, and issues management, preferably in the energy sector, GBE, major government construction project or a ministerial office, including developing and implementing media strategies, building relationships with journalists, and developing responses to media inquiries Demonstrated success leading communication and engagement responses to high profile, contentious media and reputation issues for large, complex organisations, including crisis communications Experience working with senior leadership and executives to provide communication counsel and to act as trusted a resource. The ability to oversee and execute multiple projects simultaneously while working effectively under the pressure of last-minute deadlines and changing priorities Superior engagement, collaboration and interpersonal skills with the capability to build and maintain productive relationships with a large group of diverse stakeholders An ability to cope with ambiguity and remain resilient, flexible and outcomes-focussed in a high-pressure environment. Tertiary qualifications in communications, public relations, journalism or another relevant discipline.
