Facilities Officer - Sports Infrastructure Posted: 07/02/2025 Closing Date: 09/03/2025 Job Type: Permanent - Full Time Desired Skills and Experience About the Opportunity: John Paul College currently has an opportunity for an experienced Facilities Officer: Sports Infrastructure to support the college Sporting infrastructure on a permanent full-time basis. This ongoing role will be primarily responsible for supporting the sporting program and facilities across our beautiful campus based in Daisy Hill Queensland. Reporting directly to the Grounds Manager, this role plays an intricate part in the College operations as it is responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the College's sports facilities. This includes, but is not limited to, the Coleman Centre, Aquatic Centre, various hard courts and the Jukumbi Sports precinct. This opportunity will require the successful applicant to have the highest regard to safety and quality service delivery, including hazard prevention and ensuring operational compliance with policies and procedures and statutory requirements. About the Role The Facilities Officer: Sports Infrastructure at John Paul College is responsible for ensuring the College indoor and outdoor courts, aquatics facilities and associated amenities are maintained to a very high standard with emphasis on safety, compliance, visual appeal, and sustainability. The role will be responsible for the day-to-day management of indoor and outdoor courts, aquatics facilities and associated amenities and prepare facilities as appropriate including bookings, maintenance, set up and pack down routines. Regular duties of this role will include. Maintenance of the College indoor and outdoor courts, aquatics facilities and associated amenities Manage and oversee pool operation's reporting, auditing, hazard identification, and facility safety (including water chemistry) in accordance with QLD Health guidelines. Monitor College bookings of hard-court sports, aquatics facilities and associated amenities and prepare facilities as appropriate. Collaborate with the sports department to plan for required support to TAS home fixtures. Be responsible for overseeing service delivery on the day (Saturday). Assess and monitor situations relating to potential pool closures, ensuring processes are in place to rectify effectively and efficiently and the wider College community are aware. Report and escalate as needed. Oversee and manage, work alongside, or assist as required external contractors (plumbers, painters, carpenters, electricians or other tradesmen) and grounds employees as necessary. Assist in establishing systems and processes to support operational managers in maintaining high quality facilities. Support students, staff, visitors, and contractors as required during events including respond to general enquiries. Operation of equipment, including checking and maintaining equipment prior to and after use, reporting any known concerns. Ensuring compliance with Health and Safety requirements, including safe work practices and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. About You: The Facilities Officer: Sports Infrastructure at John Paul College will be required to work within a collaborative team and have the following essential requirements & experience for this role: Formal qualifications or currently completing study in community sport and/or recreation management or previous experience working within the leisure sector. Strong communication skills and a high level of professionalism Experience within a fast-paced, high volume, very diverse, sports, leisure, education, and events industry or similar. The ability to support stakeholders in change management and be a team player High level interpersonal leadership and the ability to generate engagement at all levels Experience in organising, consulting, and negotiating with contractors and visitors Previous maintenance/facilities management experience, preferably in a school environment. Compliance requirements for this role will also require the successful applicant to provide evidence of the following: Pool Plant Operations (Aquatic Technical Operator) Positive Paid Blue Card / Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain this by your start date) Driver’s License (Open License) Current First Aid and CPR (or ability to obtain).
