Family and Student Engagement and Liaison Officer Branch: School of Special Educational Needs: Behaviour and Engagement (Learning Academy - Midland) Division: Service Delivery - Statewide Services Salary: Level 5, $90,584 - $98,926 per annum (pro-rata) (DOE (SSO) CA 2022) Work Type: Fixed Term - Full Time, Fixed Term - Part Time, Permanent - Full Time, Permanent - Part Time We are seeking to establish a pool of Family and Student Engagement and Liaison Officers for permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2025 school year. Appointments may be offered at any time for vacancies that commence during this period. The School The Midland Learning Academy (MLA) is a small, specialist secondary school (Year 7-12) delivering a high-quality public education for students who are experiencing significant challenges to their engagement in a traditional (mainstream) school setting. At MLA we offer personalised learning experiences and holistic wrap-around supports to successfully re-engage young people with their chosen education, training, or employment pathways. The Family and Student Engagement and Liaison Officer plays a pivotal role in increasing the participation and engagement of non-attending and disengaged students in educational programs. This includes developing and implementing responsive intervention strategies, alternative programs, and support systems tailored to the needs of students, families, and staff. A key aspect of the position is facilitating agreements and protocols with support agencies and employer organisations to assist non-attending and disengaged students. The officer liaises with students, families, and service providers to identify and implement appropriate support measures, while also preparing correspondence, case notes, and briefings on student attendance and family support. Minimum Requirements Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment. Obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start. Consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit. Demonstrated well developed research, analytical and conceptual skills and an ability to identify and clarify issues and generate strategies to address them. Demonstrated well developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to negotiate and collaborate with individuals across a range of backgrounds and work within a team environment.
