Role Introduction We are seeking an experienced Finance Manager to oversee and manage all financial matters across Australia and New Zealand. This role will drive financial strategy, ensure compliance with local regulations, and continuously improve processes to support the business. You will partner with senior leadership and the Finance team in Hong Kong to provide actionable insights and ensure robust controls. Key Responsibilities Compliance – Legal, Taxation, Regulatory Reporting Ensure full compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and reporting requirements. Lead and update regional management and Head Office on emerging local requirements, risk exposure, and procedural changes. Ensure accurate and timely preparation of audited Financial Statements. Control and Risk Assessment Enforce adherence to company policies and work with Head Office to address any deviations. Collaborate with the Regional General Manager and department managers to complete Control Self-Assessments for risk management. Conduct annual audits of finance processes to identify risks and implement robust controls. Ensure timely and accurate recording of financial data, including revenues, expenses, and balance sheet items. Collaborate with management to prepare budgetary and ad hoc financial analyses. Prepare monthly and annual financial reports, including cash flow forecasts and reconciliation of accounts. Cost and Credit Control Drive cost efficiency by leading the preparation of annual overhead and route cost budgets with department heads. Analyse actual spend against budgets and work with stakeholders to implement cost-saving measures Develop and maintain a credit policy for appointing new agents and managing financial exposure. Payroll Work with the People Department and port management to establish payroll controls. Ensure salaries and benefits are paid according to local regulations and company policy. Review payroll calculations to ensure consistency with employee records. Employee Development Lead talent development and succession planning initiatives. Foster a motivated and high-performing team aligned with Cathay Pacific’s core values. Support ongoing employee development through training, performance management, and goal-setting. RequirementsPost-graduate accounting qualification (e.g. Chartered Accountant or Certified Practicing Accountant) with sound accounting knowledge is required A minimum of seven years’ experience in Finance/Accounting is essential Experience in the airline industry is an advantage Experience and knowledge in AU & NZ financial compliance with statutory law and regulations A minimum of three years’ experience in leading a high performing team Sound understanding of regional business practices Strong interpersonal skills and can interact with all levels within the organisation Demonstrable experience in improving current work practices and implementing new ideas Be part of the Cathay Pacific family and join a dynamic team culture working for one of the world’s Top 10 Global Airlines.
