Closing date: 16/02/2025 Ongoing $95,515 - $104,362 (APS6) + 15.4% superannuation Flexible working arrangements available Full-time position The Financial Accountant, Reporting and Operations reports to the Assistant Director, Finance Reporting and Operations, and is accountable, under broad direction, for the delivery of quality outcomes for the Mint. They are responsible for the preparation of monthly financial results and forecasts including business activity statements, maintenance of the chart of accounts, and management of the small financial operations team which includes Accounts Receivable and Payable Officers and a Junior Financial Accountant. They support the delivery of strategic financial management services within the Mint. The Financial Accountant, Reporting and Operations provides finance related training to employees across the Mint and to members of the Finance Reporting & Operations team. They also assist with the preparation and audit of annual financial statements. The duties of this position include: Preparing monthly financial results, including journals and reconciliations, to present to the Assistant Director Financial Reporting and Operations for inclusion in the monthly finance report to Senior Management. Reporting monthly financial results and forecasts to Department of Finance via the Central Budget Management System. Preparing monthly Business Activity Statements for submission to the Australian Taxation Office. Monitoring and maintaining the general ledger and chart of accounts. Delivering finance related training including on the use of chart of accounts, end of month processes, accounts receivable and accounts payable, and induction training for new employees at the Mint. Developing and reviewing accounting policies and procedures, providing recommendations on process improvements, and updating work instructions. Assisting with the preparation and audit of the annual financial statements. Managing a small team of finance professionals, including Accounts Payable and Receivable Officers and a Junior Financial Accountant. Developing and maintaining productive and collaborative working relationships with other Branches and external stakeholders. Security clearance This position requires a Baseline security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level. Qualification Tertiary qualifications in accounting with membership, or progression towards attainment of membership, of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA), Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) or other equivalent professional finance bodies is required in this position.
