About the Roles The Financial Accounting and Reporting branch is responsible for managing financial reporting, asset reporting, cashflow statements, financial systems, and taxation, and covers the Department of Communities and the two legacy agencies: Housing Authority and Disability Services Commission. We are recruiting for a competitive pool of applicants from which appointments will be made for current and future Financial Accountant and Senior Financial Accountant vacancies (permanent and fixed term) that arise within the next 12 months. The Financial Accountant (Level 5) ensures there are adequate controls within systems that comply with legislation and standards; oversees internal and external financial reporting obligations; oversees the Department’s tax obligations; ensures key aspects of the asset management function are undertaken; develops and maintains relevant financial and accounting policies, guidelines and procedures; and works collaboratively as a team member to ensure the objectives of the branch are achieved. The Senior Financial Accountant (Level 6) coordinates and prepares monthly reporting; prepares annual financial statements; reviews monthly balance sheet reconciliation; and develops and maintains policies consistent with whole of government policies and relevant accounting standards and legislation.
