This role is based at Perisher, the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere, located in the beautiful Snowy Mountains region of South-Eastern NSW and just a two-hour drive from Canberra and the Far South Coast. Perisher is part of Vail Resorts who own and operate ski areas including iconic resorts Falls Creek and Hotham in Australia as well as Park City, Beaver Creek, Whistler Blackcomb and Vail in North America. Reporting to the Financial Controller – Australia, this role will be responsible for managing financial accounting activities in accordance with accounting policy, procedures and practices to ensure that all levels of the organisation receive accurate, timely and relevant management and financial information to achieve business goals. The successful candidate will prepare financial data and returns for reporting to Vail HO and submission to regulatory bodies such as the Australian Taxation Office. Applicants with prior knowledge or experience using data cubes, particularly Cognos/TM1 and PeopleSoft Accounting will be highly regarded. Ski industry experience is also desirable. In a typical day in this role, you might: Management of accounting costs in accordance with the company’s contractual and legal obligations including insurance, land tax, rates, utilities. Management of the company’s prepayment registers and ensuring timely release of costs. Prepare financial data and returns required for submission to regulatory bodies such as the NPWS, RMB, ABS, ATO and State Revenue Office. Assist in the preparation of budgets, reports, forecasts and statutory accounts. To be considered for this role, you should have: A business degree and professional membership of an accounting body (e.g. ACA, CPA, IPA). Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced excel skills to pivot table and macro level. Demonstrated ability to communicate with all levels of management staff. Supervisory experience.
