About the role The Financial Governance Leader (maternity leave cover) leads a disciplined and motivated team within the Finance and Planning team of TEQ. The Financial Governance Leader works closely with the Finance and Planning Director to support TEQ’s global team to provide strong financial governance including the management and analysis of budgets, to optimise financial processes; deliver accurate, timely and reliable statutory compliance; and facilitate effective financial business planning. Job Description Manage the delivery of high quality financial business partnering and support framework that provides financial information, tools, analysis and insight, whilst challenging assumptions, to support teams to make more informed decisions while driving success in achieving outcomes, creating value and meeting TEQ’s strategic goals and priorities. Provide expert advice on financial and financial governance issues and prepare financial Board reports. Work closely with the Finance and Planning Director to manage relevant components of the financial planning and budgeting process including budget preparation and analysis. Manage the relationship with key Department and Treasury financial contacts. Manage the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC) meetings and ensure Committee papers are prepared and compliance requirements relevant to the Committee are met. Manage the preparation and analysis of the annual statutory financial statements and associated notes including international branch statutory reporting ensuring accuracy and compliance. Experience advising and influencing a broad range of internal and external stakeholders through effective business partnering. Extensive knowledge of and experience in applying accounting standards and principles; tax compliance; and the provision of high level financial advice. Ability to understand business requirements to design and implement policies and processes. Experience facilitating financial business planning and knowledge of financial management systems. Experience motivating, developing and engaging a high performing team. Strong corporate governance knowledge and experience. Tertiary qualifications in accounting, or a related discipline.
