What You'll Be Doing: The Capital Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day management of all capital, asset and leasing related accounting services including maintenance of the Fixed Asset Register, Useful Life Assessments and Asset Stocktakes, Capital budget and reporting, lease accounting management, and Minor Works & Equipment accounting. The role will also support taxation compliance including fringe benefits tax, and salary packaging. Selection Criteria: Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Finance or a related discipline supported by demonstrated and extensive experience in a like role within a diverse government or commercial environment. Current member of relevant professional body. Significant and demonstrated relationship-building skills with both internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in the application of capital, asset and leasing principles and methodologies within a diverse and complex organisation. Demonstrated ability to manage and lead change. Demonstrated experience in the preparation and analysis of financial reports and statements including the initiation of engagement with stakeholders to ensure their reporting needs are being met. This will include advanced level software skills. Demonstrated excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills at all management levels within an organisation to work effectively with a diverse range of people including external clients. Demonstrated ability to mentor and support team members as well as other stakeholders to achieve organisational and departmental goals. Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's licence and the ability to maintain it. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
