Job Detail: First Nations Community Coordinator Our Hunter Team offers Temporary full-time roles until June 2025. The NDIS Partners in the Community Program (PITC) supports the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) to be implemented locally. As an NDIA partner, Northcott will deliver the NDIS Early Childhood Approach (ECA) service to local communities in Northern NSW, Mid North Coast, Hunter New England, and Western Sydney. The EC approach supports the activities that will improve the independence and social participation of children aged 0-9 years with developmental delay and/or disability. What does this role look like daily? The key focus of our Early Childhood First Nations Community Coordinator will be to work with First Nations children with disability and developmental delays and their families to determine the best supports for their improved independence, social participation and quality of life. Connect with the local community to build networks and pathways that build inclusion opportunities for First Nations children with disability and their families to access Early Childhood Services. The essential requirements we would like you to have are: Identify as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person Experience engaging with First Nations people to understand what their needs are and experience providing support to First Nations families. Knowledge of developmental milestones for children aged 0-9 years A reference from an Aboriginal Organisation, Corporation or Community Elders Group. Confirmation of Aboriginality with common seal. Experience in connecting and building working relationships with local community and mainstream services. Ability to promote a culturally safe work environment. Ability to share knowledge of significant dates with First Nations people on a wider team. Other requirements to work at Northcott include: Current Driver's Licence - P1 minimum Valid Working with Children’s Check Clearance - mandatory Valid NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDIS WC) or willingness to obtain – mandatory Working Rights in Australia for Full-Time Employment Successful pre-employment probity check Induction Training program – tailored training program to help you understand how we meet targets and see the highest standards.
